The obvious example of Metamorphosis is the transformation from caterpillar to butterfly. How different they look and behave and yet that grubby caterpillar chomping its way from one leaf to another, once transformed, has the very same life force energy as the butterfly it has become, free to fly and land wherever it wants, whilst looking as fascinating as nature intended.
'Metamorphosis' began in the hands of Australian Naturopath and Reflexologist Robert St. John, who realised the neo-natal pattern begins in the Central Nervous System which is housed in the spine and can be accessed via the spine reflex in Reflexology. It is based on the principle that all aspects of our lives are created whilst we are in the womb. Therefore, every response our Mother feels, we feel too, and so begins our journey on developing and learning to be human.
Gaston St. Pierre, who learnt and experienced the process with Robert St John, began to practise and teach his own way of Metamorphosis, later changing its name to Metamorphic Technique as he claims it is not considered to be a treatment or a therapy but a place to be, a time to connect with ourselves. I usually consider it a time for unravelling the "plate of spaghetti" I have at certain times, somehow become.
A session begins with gentle circular, tapping or vibrato movements created over the spine reflex on the feet and hands. Working on the feet represents us moving forward with our lives and working on the hand represents us doing what is necessary to facilitate that movement forward. This then frees us to become who we really are, connecting with our own truth. The final part of the Technique is carried out on the head which can be deeply relaxing and represents our new thought patterns for the next phase of our lives.
I would just mention, please do not be surprised if your Practitioner does not engage in much conversation with you, as it is for us to remain detached from you so there is no influence on the outcome of your session and this keeps your response pure.
Metamorphic Technique is for everyone, there are no medical restrictions, just the desire to have a session is all that is required. It is recommended at times of transition such as house or career moves, relationship changes, pregnancy, menopause, and children respond easily to MT, it's particularly beneficial for those with learning difficulties such as Downs Syndrome, Autism. Our beloved pets and animals enjoy it too.
